The retrospective screen

An open retrospective has three parts:

  • the app bar, with the title and the Reset and Save buttons;
  • the panel on the left;
  • the map.
Changed

The title appears in the app bar after Retrospectives |. A new retrospective shows a faded Title placeholder.

To rename it:

  • Select the title and type.
  • Press Enter, or select elsewhere, to keep the change.
  • Press Escape to go back to the title you had.

A title is required and can be up to 50 characters long.

Changed

Save and Reset are at the right of the app bar. They’re available only once you’ve changed something.

  • Save saves the retrospective, including its title, its layers and their settings. A new retrospective needs a title and at least one layer before it can be saved.
  • Reset discards every change since the last save. This includes layers you’ve added or deleted.

If something must be fixed before saving, a red error icon appears beside the buttons. It reads “There are errors to fix before saving”. Layers with problems are outlined in red in the panel, with the problem written on them.

New

You can move between the retrospective’s layers and items freely. If you try to leave the retrospective with unsaved changes, Save changes? asks what to do:

  • Save saves, then continues.
  • Discard leaves without saving.
  • Cancel stays where you are.

If you close or reload the browser tab, your browser asks you to confirm.

The panel on the left shows one of three things:

  • the Layers list, when the retrospective first opens;
  • one layer, with its Items or Settings;
  • one item’s details.

To go back up a level (from an item to its layer, or from a layer to the list of layers), select the back arrow at the left of the app bar. From the list of layers, the back arrow returns you to your saved retrospectives.

The buttons at the top left of the map are:

  • Zoom in and Zoom out.
  • Fit map, which fits the map to whatever is selected:
    • the open item, when one is open;
    • otherwise the open layer, its items and its boundary;
    • otherwise every visible layer.
  • Go full screen / Exit full screen New.
  • Change map style, to choose another background map. IR3 remembers your choice in this browser for its other maps too.

A scale bar is shown at the bottom left.

Type a place in the search box at the top centre of the map, then pick a result. The map moves to it.

Select the i at the bottom right of the map to see who the map data comes from. On Ordnance Survey maps, the Ordnance Survey logo and Crown copyright notice are also shown.
